Earlier this morning, Mozilla announced their 1 billionth add-on download!

As a small technology company who embraces open source, we are very excited to hear the news.  Many of these downloads may only be used once, but it is still very exciting to see more people embracing open source software.

With the increased acceptance of Mozilla’s products, like Mozilla Firefox and Mozilla Thunderbird, it is getting much easier to implement open source software with in the small business community.  The only question that remains un-answered is, How do we get users to abandon Internet Exploder?

Currently, most corporate users believe Internet Explorer is the internet.  Explaining the internet to users can be a dead end conversation.  As a company, we work diligently to spread the open source love – however, users prefer tech comfort over functionality.  Maybe it is time to learn the psychology of tech comfort?

Until then, lets free the web and congratulate the Mozilla community and their continued focus on a single goal: making the Internet better for everyone.
