Earlier this morning, Mozilla announced their 1 billionth add-on download!

<p>Earlier this morning, <a title="Mozilla Billionth Download" href="http://blog.mozilla.com/addons/2008/11/19/1-billion-add-on-downloads/" target="_self">Mozilla</a> announced their 1 <a title="Mozilla Billionth Download" href="http://blog.mozilla.com/addons/2008/11/19/1-billion-add-on-downloads/" target="_blank">billionth</a> add-on download!</p>
<p>As a small <a title="Asheville Web Design" href="http://www.appliedtns.com" target="_self">technology company</a> who embraces open source, we are very excited to hear the news.  Many of these downloads may only be used once, but it is still very exciting to see more people embracing <a title="Mozilla Corporation" href="http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/about/whatismozilla.html" target="_blank">open source software</a>.</p>
<p>With the increased acceptance of Mozilla&#8217;s products, like <a title="Spread Firefox" href="http://www.spreadfirefox.com">Mozilla Firefox</a> and <a title="Mozilla Thunderbird" href="http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/thunderbird/">Mozilla Thunderbird</a>, it is getting much easier to implement open source software with in the small business community.  The only question that remains un-answered is, <em>How do we get users to abandon <a title="Internet Exploder" href="http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/">Internet Exploder</a>? </em></p>
<p>Currently, most corporate users believe <a title="Internet Exploder" href="http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/"><em>Internet Explorer</em></a> <em>is</em> the internet.  Explaining <em>the internet</em> to users can be a dead end conversation.  As a company, we work diligently to spread the open source love &#8211; however, users prefer <em>tech comfort </em>over <em>functionality</em>.  Maybe it is time to learn the psychology of <em>tech comfort</em>?</p>
<p>Until then, lets <a title="Free the web" href="http://www.free-the-web.com/get-the-code" target="_blank">free the web</a> and congratulate the <a title="Mozilla Corporation" href="http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/">Mozilla community</a> and their continued focus on a single goal: <strong>making the Internet better for everyone.</strong></p>
